Protect Your Personal Information
- Never share your home address, workplace, or daily routine in early conversations.
- Use Single City's in-app messaging instead of moving to personal phone numbers or WhatsApp too soon.
- Avoid connecting personal social media accounts until you've established trust.
- Use a photo that isn't reverse-searchable to your real identity if you value discretion.
- Never share your full legal name before meeting in person.
Spot and Avoid Scammers
Scammers often follow predictable patterns. Be alert if someone:
- Moves very fast emotionally and claims to fall in love within days.
- Refuses video calls or always has excuses for not meeting in person.
- Claims to work abroad (oil rig, military deployment, international business) and later faces a "crisis" needing money.
- Asks you to move communication off Single City immediately.
- Has profile photos that look like stock images or model headshots.
🚫 Never do these things
- Send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers to anyone you met online.
- Click links sent by matches before verifying they're safe.
- Share passwords, PINs, or verification codes with anyone.
Verify Before You Trust
- Request a short video call before agreeing to meet. Anyone refusing video calls repeatedly is a red flag.
- Do a reverse image search on their profile photos using Google Images or TinEye.
- Search their name + city on social media to verify they are who they say they are.
- Trust your instincts — if something feels off, it probably is.
First Date Planning
Choose a public place. A busy cafe, restaurant, or park is ideal for a first meeting. Avoid private locations like your home or theirs.
Arrange your own transport. Drive yourself, take public transit, or use a rideshare — never accept a ride from someone you're meeting for the first time.
Tell a friend. Share your plans — who you're meeting, where, and when you expect to be back. Set a check-in time.
Keep your phone charged and with you at all times during the date.
Stay sober enough to make clear decisions. Never leave your drink unattended.
Consent & Boundaries
- Respect "no" — in conversation, in person, and in any context. Boundaries should always be honoured without pushback.
- If a date makes you uncomfortable, it is always okay to leave. You don't owe anyone an explanation.
- Report any member who pressures, threatens, or disrespects your boundaries immediately.
